Hey there, fellow adventurers!

We're back with another round of updates to enhance your experience in the Good Sam Community. Your feedback continues to shape our improvements, and we’re excited to share what’s new this month. Let’s dive in!

New Features

📅 New Events Page Is Live

We’re thrilled to introduce the Events Page - your go-to spot for upcoming gatherings, meetups, and adventures within the Good Sam Community.

Got an event you’re attending or hosting? Send me a private message with the details for a chance to have it featured!

🔄 Threaded vs. Linear View Option

Did you know there's a customization option in personal settings that allows you to choose between threaded or linear views when reading discussions? This gives you more control over how you follow conversations based on your personal preference.

😀 Emojis Are Back

Good news! As of February 11, emojis have officially returned to the community. Express yourself with your favorite reactions once again! 🎉

Software Updates

🌟 Profile Signatures Update

Some of you have asked about the return of profile signatures, and we appreciate your patience. Unfortunately, the software platform we use to host this community has confirmed that they will not be reintroducing this feature at this time. While we know this may be disappointing, we're exploring other ways to help personalize your community presence.

📌 Unread Posts Update – Still in Progress

We know how valuable the unread posts feature is, and we’re actively working with our software host to restore it. We hope to have a solid update in next month’s release notes—stay tuned!

Looking Ahead

We’ll be rolling out more enhancements next month, including updates on the Unread Posts feature and other improvements based on community feedback. Keep an eye out for more exciting changes coming your way!

Your engagement and enthusiasm help make this space a fantastic home for adventurers. Thank you for being a valued member of the Good Sam Community.

Happy exploring!

I had to experiment with the Threaded and Linear views to see which one would put new posts where they really belong and not stuck somewhere in the middle of pages of replies.  Linear takes care of this!!!!

Now a fix for read versus unread really needs to be addressed, how can a forum software creator miss this?????

haha, I sis the same thing as soon as I logged in after the update.  I am on linear now with newest first so I can scan new posts fast.

That is what I am doing right now too.  Select thread with newest first and then scanning for the new posts.  Otherwise, you have to go through pages (sometimes many) to find the newest.  Most forums you can select an option to automatically go to the newest post, even if it is at the end of the thread many pages in.

  • For the love of all that's holy, lock down posts older than a year unless it's a sticky.

Yes, yes, and yes please!  There are so many replies to posts from many years ago that will never be answered, when a new thread with the question would solve the issue.

        Hi MORSNOW way2roll

Preaching to the choir, I hear ya'll 🙂.

Some users really prefer Threaded view settings, especially for longer threads. It's nice that we have the option to select your preferred view.

For Unread Posts, you can view those in message view, as seen in the screenshot below. That said, we're working with our vendor on a fix to bring back the feature that was here previously. Ours is not the first community to voice a need for it.

Thanks as always for the feedback. I've added these, along with some notes from our friend StirCrazy , to my list for the March Release Notes Update next month.
