Blog Post
As I have stated before, locking down a post that's a year old will not only decrease some of the clutter and sorting issues but encourage users to join the forum formally and post new topics which in turn will generate more activity. And I am not sure what the new ability to post anonymously is, but it's happening more and I think does less to encourage formal membership. And wouldn't formal membership be a goal of GS?

Hi way2roll, thanks for the feedback.
The Anonymous user matter occurs when new members have yet to verify their email and complete profile registration. We're looking into a way to expedite that process while still allowing them to find the quick help they need.
I hear you loud and clear about locking down posts created before a specific timeline. That said, some legacy threads are part of the community's heritage. I'm exploring options to maintain the legacy of these discussions while also invigorating new topics.
I appreciate the input! :)

I would be carful using the creation date for the criteria for making a post read only. we have some posts that go on for years, with weekly additions and such, or they die off for a month then pick back up again. I would rather it be based on inactivity, so say 1 year from the last post date.
