I have shared firewood with neighbors many times, usually those with expectant kids awaiting the fire. We usually carry a fair amount of 2 X 4-6" construction leftovers that are legal to bring anywhere. It is easy to split of kindling from this and it burns like a torch drying out any adjacent wet wood. {Not sure why but the Forum edited out the word "s****s" which I replaced with leftovers.} :h
Smoking out a neighbor is very poor form and usually the result of not enough dry wood (or fire building skills). I do agree with the earlier post that the OP would have been more welcome with some dry wood to address the problem vs just complaining. We also have a propane (Campfire in a can), fire pit which burns nice and clean in a lot of locations where wood fires are prohibited. It is nice to have options. :W
