we build a campfire many mornings and most evenings.
we often camp with other friends from other locales and our adult kids.
a fire is a magnet that draws the other campers together
we do not have smoky fires
i carry an adequate supply of duraflame logs ( cut in quarters ) that i use to start a fire easily.
i also pick up osb scraps at construction sites ( with permission ) that i use to stop any smoking that begins .
if you place an osb scrap on top of a smoky fire it reflects the heat adequately down to get the fire burning Hot again .
we augment the duraflame and osb with local firewood that is generally not as dry .
when i pick up osb scraps i take them home and cut them perfectly to size to fit into a cardboard fruit box that i get at costco checkout .
the boxed osb and duraflame do not make a real mess like normal firewood in transit.
