Richard, when you get the new disposal, be sure you and Sue read the owner's manual. There's a list of things you never ask that poor machine to do. Like chew up and swallow potato peels, celery scraps, etc. If it would help, make a list of no-goes on an index card and pin it near the sink. Bud used to be an appliance repairman and it was amazing what people try to put in a disposal.
