What’s Your Favorite Community Board and Why?

Hi everyone, đź‘‹

This community has been around, in some form, for decades now. I want to learn more about what makes it thrive. What’s your favorite community board here and why?

Reply below with your favorite board and your reasons. For example, this could include discovering the best travel tips, making new friends, route planning, or enjoying a good laugh over RV mishaps. I'm eager to hear what makes it special for you!

  • This will never compare to the old rv.net. It was the best

  • The transition to the new format gutted the participation by cutting members off if they didn't go thru the clunky renewal of id and password.

I still check it every few days but I used to check almost daily but there is just less of interest and I've mostly transitioned to facebook.

I'd suggest reaching out to the members who have dropped out with preset id/password that matches their old id/password and ease up on the security checks...this site doesn't contain a lot of critical private info that needs top of the line bank account type security.

  • Mine was Tow Vehicles but I must admit that I don’t even come around very often. It seems to me to me that Tow Vehicles has been taken over by people looking for clicks on their “you tube” posts. No longer find it interesting or useful.

thats because the posts were 100% about nothing but truck repair or maintenance and were posted in a different area of the board and moved to an appropriate forum where it fit the best. I wouldn't say that is all that truck area is about.  people just are not posting in it right now so all you see is the couple that have been moved laity.

Hi nickthehunter this is great feedback. What types of content would you prefer to see in Tow Vehicles?

        — Everything you ever wanted to know about towing and tow vehicles: setup, specs, weights, etc.

BTW: there is a DYI board, that would seem to me to be the place for DYI videos?

  • My two favorite community boards were dropped during the software migration, they used to be "DIY" and Tecnology (Tech for short).

I tend to like doing my own work, weather it be maintenance, which is what they changed DIY to, but I also like to build things that do not fall under the DIY Maintenance umbrella like adding features such as solar.

Now the "Tech" was great because it is where we could discuss different new products coming on the market and even changes in old products to hep a person decide what to buy for his DIY projects, or even designs for replacement parts or "special" adaptors you could print with a 3d printer.  probably used to be the two most consistent forums all year around for posts.

StirCrazy great feedback, thank you. There's a need for maintenance-style DIY conversations as well as cosmetic DIY convos.

it used to cover anything DIY.  so both Maintenace and improvements.  usually the cosmetic stuff is normal maintenance, so we would have a thread going about how to add your own solar panels at the same time as how to repack your bearings
