**** Rt. 58 in Oregon ****
We are staying near Crater Lake on Rt.97. We are heading over to I5 to head for Salem. How is Rt.58 for steep climbs or descents? Someone suggested Rt. 138 instead. Thanks.

The north exit from Crater Lake meets 138 at its high point. 138 east to 97 is a straight gradual down grade. 138 to the north and then west is roughly flat, and then a gradual descent along a major river.
58 from 97 has a slight rise to its pass, and then a gradual descent to the lowlands.
