at a time when most RV'ers are reluctant, if not shaking in their boots, to drive into Mexico.
I very much encourage everyone and anyone to visit Mexico with no more fear than they might have traveling anywhere else in North America. Many of the stories we hear that cause the fear about Mexico are very overrated. Learn all you can and be aware that almost all the killings in Mexico are criminals killing criminals. In our many years of traveling all over Mexico we hear almost no stories with any basis in fact where crime against tourists or RVers has occurred. Yes, it is possible for bad things to happen - but that can happen anywhere we go. Why choose to live in fear?
As far as fuel - I know nothing about it. I am not an engineer with the company that manufactured your engine - or anyone's engine. Learning the technical aspects of what could happen to your engine or the rest of the components in today's highly technical engine systems should come from an official source and not from rumors that other people have done this without problem so go ahead and do it because you will be just fine. Because someone else did it and got away with it is probably not the best source to rely on.
To be clear – I am not telling anyone not to take your engine to Mexico. I am trying to say you should find out all you can from the manufacturer of your very specific and highly technical equipment and be completely aware of all the possible consequences before you form an opinion or make a decision. It may be perfectly safe to run your engine on the wrong fuel. But then again……….?
