I know that Pemex has been given deadlines from the Gov. to start producing and selling the ULSD. Mexico did sign on to some North American pact regarding ULSD but all of those deadlines have come and gone and still no ULSD. There may be some underlying reasons why nothing has happened. Mexico still has many thousands of really old trucks. Those Dinas you see ( and hear) that are supposed to be maybe 10 ton trucks with twice the weight on the truck. The injection pumps in those vehicles have seals that probably will not tolerate the lack of lubricity from ULSD. Can you imagine the out roar from farmers, ranchers and dump truck operators if they started to have engine problems? ULSD costs more to produce and that might be another problem. I don't know if the above is fact but seems valid. Eventually the new diesel will be available. But when???? In the meantime those using the Mexican fuel risk plugging the DPF beyond repair. I don't know the exact price of a new one but it very expensive. On OTR trucks they can be $5000 !
