When we went to Alaska we never stopped at a commercial campground. We parked overnight mostly at Provincial parks. Enroute on the ALCAN highway we found many places to just pull off the road in a scenic area and use the gen to provide necessities. Many of these scenic areas were where the builders of the road made camp. We found the roads to be good. In fact, they were better roads than we had when I was growing up in the 1940's and 50's.
