3-4 week trip west... A little nervous!
I have logged over 100k miles in class a motorhomes. Currently have a 40ft dynasty diesel pulling a full size Chevy truck. We (me, wife, and 2 sons, 8 and 14) are leaving June 6th from Panama City...

You are going to have a great trip! The west is so beautiful :). People here will advise you about the roads.
You might want to make reservations at the most popular places, like Yellowstone. If you need to change the reservations later it's easy to do and there is like a $10 fee for the change. No big deal. Easier to reduce days of your stay than add them, of course.
