Yellowstone, ah yes. I remember that. I got stuck on a highway detour. On to a dirt road highway all with standup stop lights and everything! Yes, a dusty mess for let's see... 2 hours before we got back to real highway! So be sure to check with state highways for what's up in that dept. if possible because they just tear it up at will. Bring some air filters!
Mount Rushmore might be something you would enjoy which is near Yellowstone in SD. It's quite a steep incline! But a very nice little town at the bottom of the hill to hang out. Otherwise, not much out that way.
Sturgis, SD is a nice town as well. Always something going on out there this time of year.
