A lot is always discussed about the mountain driving in the West. If you have visited the Smokey Mountains, Kentucky or West Virginia; you have likely experienced some steep grades. An 8% grade is an 8% grade whether it is in the West or the East. The big difference is the altitudes which can affect the performance of some engines.
....I think we are going to go for the bad lands first then to Yellowstone. From Yellowstone to Utah to explore. That's as far as I've gotten. Lol my 8 year is a dinosaur nut and I want him to see some of the things I've read about in Utah...How hard is the mountain driving going to be? How will I know what roads to avoid...
For the dinosaur nut, there is the Dinosaur Museum in Thermopolis, WY. In Utah are the Dinosaur Museum in Blanding, Dinosaur National Monument in Vernal and Utah Field House Museum in Vernal. If your route happens to take you through New Mexico, there is the Mesalands Museum in Tucumcari and Dinosaur Tracks at Clayton Lake State Park.
