I read that Rocky Mountain NP did not open last weekend as scheduled because of snow. NP service reported the road was closed 8 miles into the park, and the roof of the visitor center was barely visible. Haven't checked lately, but they were supposed to have over 2 more feet of snow last weekend. Also, I watched it snow at the Eisenhower tunnel on the DOT website last night. My point is to check the weather where you are going, as this seems to be an unusually cold and wet spring.
We did Utah last year and set up camp at Torrey-a delightful little community- to do Capital Reef (about 9 miles) and Bryce ( a beautiful day trip down scenic 112). And of course you can set up at Moab for Arches, Canyonlands, and Deadhorse (possibly better than the other 2).
As long as you are in the area, try to make it to Monument Valley. The view from Gouldings Campground is spectacular. If you are a John Wayne fan at all, you will see a lot of places you have seen in the movies.
