Hopefully you can make it a 4+ week trip as it's 1700 miles from Dickson to West Yellowstone if you do not go to the "Bad Lands" which in MHO are well named. Granted we like trees and the plains and deserts do not do much for us. I would go I-24, I-65, and I-70 to west of Denver ad then US 40 north to Winter Park and Grand Lake for RMNP. 40 over Berthound Pass (11,300') will be your first test of how your Dynasty will do in the real mountains. Kind of curvy but two lanes each direction so you'll end up at 30 mph in third gear. What kind of braking do you have on the PU?
From Grand Lake I'd take CO 125/ WY 230 to I-80 briefly to Rawlings and then 287 all the way to the Tetons with no major climbs. I would make it a day trip to Thermopolis, WY (dinosaurs) from Lander in the PU staying at the city park in Lander. The welcome center at the Sinks Canyon SP outside of Lander is very good and seeing a river go underground and then back up a mile away is educational.
We do three months out West without reservations usually staying in USFS CG and here are some of my posts on how we make it work without reservations. PM me for my favorite places to stay in the Teton/Ystone area without reservations. In this area there are only two roads I'd stay off of in the MH... 22 west out of Jackson and 14/16/20 from Cody to East Yellowstone.
From Yellowstone you need to decide if you are going the 400 miles to Glacier (a long days travel) or head south to Moab UT (600 miles I-15, US6, US 191). From Moab you can do Blanding/Dinosaurs as a day trip in the PU. From Moab I'd backtrack to I-70 west to Sevier and US 89 south to Bryce Canyon. I like getting off sooner at Sigurd and UT 24/22 to Bryce staying at Otter Creek SP and then Red Canyon USFS on 12 west of Bryce and before 89. The tunnel to Zion creates a problem so staying on 89 and day tripping to Zion may be your best option BUT not much in CGs to choose from with Bauers Canyon Ranch RV Park in Glendale your best bet.
I like the North Rim (it has trees and plenty of mule deer) and here are some of my posts on it.
Hope this helps and it's a trip your kids are old enough to remember for the rest of their lives.
great info! Thats solid information there. i will map that.
