3 weeks from LA to Seattle

Thinking about things for your kids. The Trees of Mystery on 101 in Klamath would be a fun stop and then when you get to Oregon, Seaside has a Family Fun Park and an Aquarium for them to visit. Oh and a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory for an ice cream cone is an absolute must.

just finished a summer trip to seattle from orange county, incredible, but we left the oc june 23 and got to seattle one month later - and didn't back home until mid august. so much too see in no. cal and oregon and wash. we traveled up the 5 but also west and east of it. mt. shasta, crater lake, canyonville, eugene, mcminnville. portland, olympic pennisula. if you are traveling with kids the KOA's are way too kid friendly. have a great safe trip.

Just started to plan our first 3 weeks RV trip from LA to Seattle, with two young children (3.5, 1) and two adults.
we were advised to keep to coastal areas.
is this time table seems reasonable? is it suitable for young children?
love to hear some advise!!!

In my opinion based on many trips in the areas you plan on going:
1. It will take 3 days each way of travel if you go straight up I-5 unless you want to drive 10 hr. days to make it in 2 days.:(
2. From L.A. I would drive up 1-5 to the town of Williams. Then take hwy. 20 across to Hwy 101. Then take 101 all the way up the coast of Oregon and Washington for your coastal portion of the trip. Take 101 to I-5 to Seattle. Then 1-5 back to L.A. Save most of your vacation days for the coast and Seattle.
3. I would save the Calif. coast trip for a seperate trip, i.e. Santa Barbara to San Francisco since it is so close to L.A. Just my opinion:) enjoy your trip. If you want more specific information on the Oregon coast, email me privately. If you plan on RVing in state Parks in Oregon and Washington I would recommend you make your reservations as soon as possible.

Late June through August the coast can be cold and foggy, although just a few miles inland it can be over 100.

Wonder why someone said stick to the coast?

I5 is not a scenic drive, but 395/97 east of the Sierras/Cascades is. Lots to see and do.

So you can drive the coast or inland eastside. Both are nice. I5 is for getting there fast and boring.

sounds like a great trip ... take your time and enjoy ... watch for elk around the red woods

not around trip, LA to seattle... thought about few parks, beaches, SF, maybe san diego...
i want it to be not in rush, maybe spend more than one day in the same place.

A round trip? What do you want to see or do? Camp? City tours? National Parks? Sightseeing?
