- JAC1982ExplorerIn the future, if you know you're coming through ahead of time, you can register for a sticker and have it mailed to you and it should save you some money on the tolls. You do have to load a $25 minimum on your account and tie it to a credit card though.
- d3500ramExplorer IIIHmmm... OP stated "Coming south on I-25 to I-70 pulling 5th wheel." I assume that he meant (if taking 470) that he would be going east because there would be no reason to take 470 to go west.
Either way, if going south into Denver it would make sense top bypass 470 all together and hit 70 west directly or take 270 to I-70 east.
I misspoke (and misquoted) and confused 76 with 270. - Thom02099Explorer II

Yes...if one is going to I-70 WEST this would be appropriate. But why on earth would someone take E-470 toll road to go to I-70 WEST? I'm thinking Gary meant I-70 EAST. - d3500ramExplorer III

^^--ditto - George_HExplorerHaving been on 25 during rush hour (even without trailer), toll for 4 axle rig is cheap.
- Tom_Mary_LouExplorerPersonally I don't think you need to do this. I drive this often and for what you want, I25 to I 70, just stay on I25 to I76 and take that to 70. You don't come that far into Denver & before you know it you're on 70.

Yep, ours was expensive but, we felt it was worth it to avoid Mon morning Denver traffic! $33 and change for four axles, I25 South to I70 West.

I-70 WEST? Surely you mean I-70 EAST. - Thom02099Explorer II

Does anyone know how much is the toll to go around Denver. Coming south on I-25 to I-70 pulling 5th wheel. Got my bill it seemed kind of high.
And with good reason (tongue in cheek)...it's one of the most expensive toll roads in the USA, at a rate of 37 cents per mile. There's a toll for 2 axles and then increasing tolls for each axle you add beyond 2. It's 47 miles all the way around the east side of the Denver Metro area. This is not to be confused with CO 470 or in the old days C-470 which is around the WEST side of the Metro, from I-25 at the south end in the Highlands Ranch area, to just outside of Golden at the I-70 intersection. This roadway is free.
And there's also 2 different rates. The license plate reader toll and the ExpressToll. Those of us who travel the various toll portions of roads in the Denver area on a regular basis, likely have an ExpressToll account.
The toll booths on E-470 are not being built; they are abandoned, and have been for a number of years, when the E-470 Public Highway Authority changed over to the license plate reader tolls/ExpressTolls instead of making people stop 5 times if they were going all the way around. - FunTwoDrvExplorerYep, ours was expensive but, we felt it was worth it to avoid Mon morning Denver traffic! $33 and change for four axles, I25 South to I70 West.

Here is the toll calculator. Select the number of axles and your starting an stopping points and presto! your toll is calculated.
