89 north from Kanab to Bryce Canyon National Park

We visited Bryce Canyon NP last summer for a couple of weeks and are leaving May 14th to volunteer for the summer. We drove to Cedar City first last year. Don't need to go there, so we would like to take 89 north to Byyce. How is the road pulling a fifth wheel?

  • Drove it just last week. The road is in great shape. Moderate number of trucks and northbound snowbird RV'ers -- not having trouble.
  • I drive this route 2 to 3 times a year pulling my 13K FW. No problems at all.

  • Good 2-lane with a few passing lanes.
Watch your speed as you start the decent into Mt Carmel Junction (about 17mi north of Kanab).
With the exception of a couple large climbs/decents, the road is rolling hills and some curves that will make you drop the throttle but nothing major.
That will be the easiest route for you to take, and there is no reason to worry.

What slide area was there here? Are you thinking about the Big Cut south of Page?
