A fall week in the Kootenays

Took off for a weeks fall wandering in BC, doing a hot springs/craft beer loop.

Leaving Penticton, to the Fauquier Ferry..Nakusp...Revelstopke, Golden, Kimberly, Creston and last overnight in Grand Forks. Perfect weather..a couple minus 0c nights. No traffic, to speak of.

Ferry park boondocking.

Halfway Hotsprings

Critters...

Luccier Hot Springs

Train history in Fruitvale

Golden..Whitetooth Craft house.

Rossland Craft Beer

We travel a pretty barebones style..boondocking and making our own meals. One of the biggest hurdles we/I had to overcome was the need to arrange for a hairwash/dryer adventure every 3 or 4 days. Yes, the rec centers are fabulous, but only if you are in a town. Out in the weeds, less so. I had a plan...and it works like magic. I picked up a 3000w inverter, had it wired with a good heavy wire. When needed, clamp to truck battery, run an extension inside, start the engine...and let'r rip.

Such a nice time!

Radium for the first and Grand Forks, the second. T'was a Grand Forks city park deer.

I had it when a spent a stretch in the hospital. It's not high fashion but it works.
    Look it up.

I would..if it was my hair...but what mama wants/needs/desires? If I want her to put up with my stuff, then I gotta do the same for her. Besides, in her eyes, I'm a hero. I'll take that.

But, thanks for the suggestion. Someone might be looking for that very idea.

  • That is a very nice trip, it is beautiful on a clear fall day. We went to Nakusp then swung south to Kaslo, Nelson, then Grand Forks. No shortage of wildlife on that route either.
