I don't have any reservations about towing in most any condition. I've been towing travel trailers and boats for twenty years. All of our local trips include tight mountain roads (up and over the Blue Ridge Parkway). Our trailer weighs in at a third of our trucks rating and is shorter than the truck itself.
I tend to agree with riding the train one way. I don't want to use up an entire day. Everyone feels this is a "must do", but I feel like the same scenery is available in off road trails. And, the $300+ dollars to take the family buys a lot of gas. But, hey, I may get overruled on that one. :)
