Thanks everyone, again, for the input. I'm soaking it all in even if I don't get to comment on them all.
I can't believe that it is the end of April! A month and a little bit to go... I don't think we'll ever be as ready as we thought we would be.
I did get the sewer hose holder thingy put on. We've picked up some day packs with water bladders so everyone is hydrated on the trail. Changed our batteries to a pair of 6v from Costco. Repacked wheel bearings. Did not start the treadmill (my wife did better at that).
This weekend I'm putting in a few little shelves in the trailer. Trying to weed out items and find what our "essentials" are. I'd rather travel without a few things than to have to dig through junk to find anything.
Big news is that my wife got blessings from her boss to take all the time off. We weren't sure about that. That really changes things, like taking the Durango train for instance. ;)
In fact, she got approval for the full six weeks, so we have an extra week to plan in. We have reservations up to Ridgway State Park and then have another 14 days available before needing to be home.
Let's brainstorm together! If you were in central Colorado and had 14 days to get back to South Carolina, what would you do? Yellowstone and Tetons? Or am I too exhausted by that point? I don't think 2 weeks is well spent spreading it accross the middle of the country back home...is it? (no offense)
Never in our lives have we had this much time available. I know how exhausted a one week trip makes us, and am now concerned. I hope we have enough time built in to be leisurely.
I've been tossing around the idea of NOT bringing the generator (Yamaha2400). Saves weight, and I think there are only a handful of nights without electricity. If I bring it, should I bring the 5g extra gas can? Where do I put that? Or maybe I bring a small 1g can? I can recharge batteries 3 times off of the onboard genny tank. That should be plenty.
