Acadia NP (Portland) to Shenandoa NP - avoiding NYC?

We're heading to Shenandoa NP, leaving from Portland, ME My mapping software takes us right through NY city! I'd like to arrive in Shenandoa still alive. What routes are better for avoiding the ...
