Acadia to Philadelphia area
We are looking for an alternative route to avoid New York City metro area as we travel south. Avoiding some tolls would be nice too! Thanks for your suggestions.

I can only knowledgeably reply for my neck of the woods, but I would suggest picking up I84 in Hartford, and taking that west, to Newburgh, where you could take I87 to I287 south,in Mahwah, and pick up NJ turnpike (I95) in Perth Amboy,NJ.Turnpike is tolls.

P.S. looking at map, If you decided to go the I 84 route, you could pick up I 495 above Boston, take that to I 290
, and take that to I 84, but that's just me looking at the map, don't know that route personally.
