LOL Please don't get me started on the Weather Channel. They take Hyperbole to new never dreamed of levels. It's the FEAR FACTOR. It sells apparently.
I am actually originally from CA. But have lived all over the world in every kind of weather imaginable. But I have to say ND has some of the worst. Although Beijing seemed colder when the winds came down from Outer Mongolia.
