My vote is skip Utah, add Sedona and other AZ destinations. Then you have a straight shot to AZ. Catch whatever time you can with family in TX, Decide on Carlsbad then enjoy Grand Canyon, Sedona, Painted Desert, etc. I love Arches but you are adding quite a bit of distance and going in the Sumer.
