I see that your from Florida so you might be old hands at this, but if you stop in Lafayette, I would take the Champagne's Cajun Swamp Tour. We enjoyed ourselves so much and the kids would probably enjoy a boat ride and seeing the gators and owls and spooky landscape. And then going to the Tabasco factory on Avery Island and lastly enjoying a bowl of gumbo at Bon Creole in New Iberia
