There are too many place to visit in the continental states so guess we will spend our time doing them. As to flying, did that for 24 years in the military and now find it a real PIA to try and go any were on an airplane. Basically now if I cant drive someplace, dont need to go there! Wife on other hand has a PP and flies when needed. I just dont want the hassle.

Sounds like you and your wife take separate vacations. I can see why she does. :) There is absolutely no hassle using a passport. Yes, the lower 48 has many, many wonderful places but so does Canada and the Yukon. If you choose not to go - your loss.
