I'm going to add a quick note here, we have driven to AK and we have driven all over the contiguous states. We don't plan or outfit in any special way other than the maps we start out with. Going North is really no different than going to Kansas as far as RVing is concerned.
Other than the splendid scenery being totally different for each destination, roads, food, shopping and all daily needs being available is basically the same.
Today we carry more electronics with us than we owned in 2000 for our first trip. The DGD expects updates on a daily and sometimes minute to minute basis. Our DD's know they will hear from us on and off and there will be about 4000 photos coming on CDs during the trip but not many written reports.
A Visa card serves well as Canadian money, for incidentals we have maybe $50 Canadian all the time in case we wander across the boarder in an unplanned search for something. it's easier to pay cash for a couple of cinnamon buns at Brayburn Lodge than charge but everything like food and fuel we use Visa.
The Brayburn Lodge is a HINT. Look it up, it's an often overlooked must see (or eat) place. Besides just north of there is a place where Stone Sheep come down to the hwy to lick salt off the road surface. BIG pullout and the MilePost says when to expect them. Very accurate.
Take at least two cameras or you'll be giving your SO yours when you want to use it. I forgot, really good binoculars are a must. The DW and I both have them as well as cameras.
