Alaska

We have driven to Alaska three times, 2005, 2008 and 2015. We have yet to see everything we want to see. With only 2 weeks I agree that flying in and renting a vehicle is a good idea. If you want to see wildlife I suggest Denali and would suggest a boat tour out of Valdez or Seward, but motion sickness may be a problem as the trips can get a bit rough. If flying is not a problem you might take a flight to Katmai or Lake Clark to see the grizzly bears.

Fly in and rent, you will be glad you did. We did pretty much all of ak and both highways 6200 miles 3 months, with two weeks all you'd be doing is driving.

Looking at 2017. My son wants to fly up and rent an RV. We told him we would meet him there and show him around.

What draws many of us, is the fact it changes that much and that quick!

Looks like we have the same disease. We did 2008, 2011, 2014, now planning for 2017 late season.

Something about the North keeps drawing you back.

Then I think you will love Denali. Spend as much time there as you can. Valdez would be a great place to visit. You still will enjoy Cooper Landing and Homer. Those are all drives with spectacular scenery. Denali itself is often in the clouds but there is so much more of the park to see and it is your best bet for wildlife viewing on the road system. Consider a June trip for seeing wildlife as the trees are not fully leafed out. Good binoculars and long lens cameras.

Site see, not into fishing. We like to hike and see wildlife, be in nature.
