The road crews have a relatively small window to fix a large number of potholes due mostly to the severe winters. My usual 300 mile days turned into 200 mile days. Part of that is due to the sheer beauty of the drive. I had some days driving from Cooper Landing south of Anchorage to Fairbanks where I didn't see but about 10 vehicles. But the big winner was seeing the top of Denali (Mt. McKinley). Its usually shrouded in clouds.
I wouldn't want to do it again all the way from Ohio, but I'm sure glad that I did it once.
