Go up and enjoy yourself. Two years ago we took our brand new Allegro Bus up and the only problem we found was that the CG in Valdez still had 6-8' drifts around it and half of it was covered with 6" of ice. The trick to dealing with the frost heaves and gravel (broken up) sections is to go slow, pull over to the side for oncoming traffic and use the WHOLE road when there's no oncoming traffic. When I say slow I mean slow, as in 10mph if it gets really bad. When traffic throws rocks in the air, they are just thrown up. If you hit them at 10mph, you do a lot less damage than if you hit them at 40mph. It's your choice, but we're heading north again in 2015. Makes it the 6th trip if you don't count flying up to see the Iditerod in 2011. I LOVE THAT PLACE!! You're on vacation so enjoy.
