- weathershakExplorerCross over the Delaware Memorial Bridge and follow signs for Dover. Get onto Rt 1 South (toll road) which is a very nice road. South of Dover, get onto Rt13 South all the way to Virginia. Take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which has a 13'6" clearance. From there get onto Rt 13 South to Rt 64 East where you can pick up Rt 17 South to avoid Rt 95 OR take Rt 58 West to get back onto Rt 95 South at Emporia Virginia.
The CBBT is a great ride and many Motor homes and big trucks use it. Just turn off your propane ahead of time. - Big_KatunaExplorer IIWe live in Florida and have been to Maine several times. We stay off of I-95 after one trip. I would suggest getting over to 81S to I-77S to I-26S to US 301S to I-75. You could stay on 26 to I-95 but then you would go thru Jax which is not as bad as it used to be. I dont know where you are going in FL.
- jnharleyExplorerExpect loads of traffic in the Hamlton Roads area.
- bigdaddogg1ExplorerX2 for the 81S, 77S, 26S route. I'd take 26S to 95S, Jacksonville isn't so bad, depending on the time of day you go through there.

X2. This is the way we always go. Nice drive and CBBT is a fun way to go. Just turn off your propane. - tomkaren13ExplorerNo help here until you get to Jacksonville. Jacksonville has a 295 around so no problem there.
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIYou want to avoid the western 295. It's worse than going thru town. I would do the eastern bypass. Very scenic.
- jgoldenExplorerCBBT Bridge part is fine but be aware that in the Tunnel part it is two lanes with trafic comming at you. Not too long but not much room for error.
- mdaExplorerAfter having traveled from NY to FL for the last ten years, I have found the best route is I-81S to I-77, thru Charlotte to I-26S to I-95S. Charlotte is easy to go thru, and as was mentioned take the east 295 around Jacksonvlle.
