We have found Amazon has many warehouses all over the US so in many cases we can get delivery in one day. They continue to open and stock more warehouses. So I assume Amazon is going to have or has at least a few well stocked warehouses around Mexico. I am not sure how this will affect delivery in Mexico as many addresses in Mexico can be difficult to find. I think if Amazon is doing it they have it figured out.
As far as shipments from China goes - I ordered LED lights from Amazon to install in our RV to replace the standard 12VDC lights that come with RVs including halogens - the lights came from China in less than 2 weeks - they had labels saying they came by both China Post and USPS combined with postage paid to USPS - I have no idea how they do this. Wherever you buy LED lights they were probably made in China - but if you buy direct from China the LEDs cost maybe $1 or $2 each while the same lights from some US companies who import them charge over $20 per light - sounds like a good racket to get into if people are willing to pay that much for a light bulb.
