I'll be driving my MH with toad through northern LA on the 210 west bound to the 5 north. Are MH's required to use the Truck Lane for his transition? I would assume so since I'm driving a truck chas...

It make a big difference if you are towing or not. Without a toad, you can drive like a regular car. With a toad, you are subject to the same 55MPH and right lanes limits that trucks are.
And yes, the 210 after/before rush hours (roughly 10:00-2:00) is probably your best way to the I-5 north.
