Best thing to do do not cross at Lukeville/Sonoyta that customs stop is the most corrupt in all of Mexico.
The son of a good friend, works at a maquiladora that actually manufactures some parts in Tijuana that are sent to Guadalajara for assembly and then return to be transferred to San Diego, he has to go to Sonoyita at least once a week to either straighten out the shipments or grease the passage of items manufactured in Mexico from Mexican materials, the parts that come from the U.S. are always getting stuck in Sonoyta until bailed by a mordida "bribe".
