Anyone else going to Newfoundland in 2016?

Hopping ferry tomorrow. Made reservations today and snagged a cg to fill/empty tanks (been dry camping in NS) for tonight.

We are well underway. Managed to be first campers or almost first campers of the season in some CGs.

Lunenburg this weekend then head to Sydney for ferry either Friday or Saturday. Guess a booking should be made in a day or so.

We've just booked our ferry to Newfoundland for July 1st, returning July 28th. We'll do a 10-day tour of Gaspe before heading to the ferry. We did much of the rest of the maritimes on a previous trip. We're travelling with a truck camper for our first time (previously having had a travel trailer), so we're hoping to get off the beaten path some; especially to visit the Baie Verte/Coachman's Cove area where my mother was born and raised.

Yep, raided Lennox Island, went to a powwow there. Signed up the local First Nations people to help me in my next raid.

Speaking of ship like ferries,there are the Magdalen Islands, aussi.

Sheeesh, what is with the fear of flying or a ship? Both are much safer than driving or walking. The NL ferrys are more the size & shape of a 70s cruise ship than an inland short hop ferry. They have to be. The sea can get pretty lively between NS & NL in the winter.

My only concern would be that my truck & trailer are suitable chained to the deck for the crossing if seas are a little rough. Find a comphy chair & the motion of the ship will put me right to sleep like a baby.

I am looking forward to our crossing. So far the only vehicle ferries we have done are small ones like across the Yukon at Dawson City & Galvaston Bay, TX.

I have researched the ferries from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. Still haven't convinced her. Oh, and she is more afraid of flying than she is of ferries. Might just have to knock her in the head and go capture another one.

Grey Mountain, the ferries to NL are nothing at all like BC ferries. The ones here are closer to an actual ship than a ferry. Check out Marine Atlantic to get a better idea of what they are like. They offer movies, sleeping quarters, a bar.....

Or there is the option of flying then renting from somebody like Islander RV, just outside St. John's.

Instead of my annual invasion of Vancouver Island, we are heading east again to raid and conquer PEI and Nova Scotia. May let Newfoundland rest in peace, at least for this year. My British Bride does not do ferries well.
