Take TX-19 from Paris thru Sulphur Springs and Canton to Athens - the west on TX-31 to Waco. Many nice places to stop for the night near Canton.
This would be my route to Waco from Fort Smith. Since we live in Northeast Texas we come down US 59/US 259 straight to our home town, but 19 would be the way to go to Waco.
We also prefer Airport COE, but I have no idea if it is closed because of flooding. The COE has a good web site which will answer that question, and, if it is open, you can pick out your site when you make a reservation.
