I don't want to hijack this thread, but I've made a number of border crossings where the agents were quite friendly. Once, at Chief's Mountain, two border guards even did a little dance on my behalf for returning to the US. It was a lot of fun. At the Alaska crossing north of Beaver Creek, the agent and I got into a very interesting conversation about snakes in Alaska (aren't any) and why.
