Now if it is obvious that you are towing overweight or have obvious safety defects then you could be in for an issue. Saying that I have seen countless people that are obviously towing overweight on their trucks and nothing ever seems to happen.
If you want to provide more information on your rig we could probably give you a better idea of what you could possibly be in for.
Sure...we are towing with a 2015 Ford Dually F350 SuperDuty Crew Cab diesel...pulling a 43.5 foot (12.954 m) 2016 Toy Hauler. So, all equipment is nearly new, no damage, good tires all around, etc. Are we overweight? I don't think so, but we have not weighed ourselves and we are full-timers, so we have more "stuff" than the average weekend warrior, but can't think that will be obvious. We do have two kayaks on the roof of the truck...we could put those in the garage if these would attract unwanted attention.
