As an instructor told us during a survival course for downed pilots, “if a bear gets close enough that you could use bear spray, you may as well just tell him he has bad breath, it’s about as likely to discourage him.”.
And yet all the studies done say that spray is very effective. More than firearms because it doesn't need to be as accurate to be effective.

Do You know what B.C. Stands for? “Bring Cash” and lots of it. You really need to quit reading the news. It’s all bad and then it gets worse. Do come we promise not to bite. We really do like our neighbours or we woudn’t spend so much trying to get you to come here. Leave your beer at home.Ours is better! And please leave your weapons at home. You really don’t need them unless you intend to walk out in the forest and piss off a bear. We have some pretty awesome and friendly border agents till you try to put one over on them and the dogs are also good at their job and they do bite. See you on the trail
Is bear spray legal to carry around?
I know someone who got attacked by a bear in North Vancouver of all places, there are woods all around and bears come scrounging for food right into peoples houses..
also when I was in Calgary one summer a cougar came into somebodys back yard, not sure if police shot it or what happened,,
So always expect the unexpected

The other issue is crossing the border with it. While it’s legal (provided it clearly labelled as “bear spray” not self+defence) if declared or found, border agents may, based on your destination, say it’s not needed and refuse it.

Oh wait. One more complaint. They turned the heat up to make it less appealing to the Yanks. Since when does Canada have the exact same temperature, humidity and precipitation as Florida in the summer?? ha ha ha.
Well in BC where I live, which is three hours north of Spokane Washington, we are regularly one of the Hot Spot in Canada, we have very little humidity and during July and August we usually run the AC instead of the wood stove... the AC is to help the ice box keep the beer cold...
Soup
That's actually a dream destination of mine. Would love to tour up through that area one of these summers.
