Anyone with any experience/advice about pulling a 32' FW from Cottonwood AZ. up through Jerome into Prescott AZ. on Arizona 89a ?

Many of them are very doable with a RV - any size. Scenic doesn't necessarily mean steep grades and hairpin turns. Some will take you along a river from many miles. Others will give you broad vistas in open country. You're missing out on some nice drives. :)

Jerome certainly has a hopping Bar on the main drag to wet your whistle - Bikers delight... Place was always plum full with side stepping standing room only during the mid afternoon everytime we stopped going through there haha...

Neat town with two layered loop back streets. Built right on the side of a mountain... Has a great view out over the Verde Valley to the East... The city limits sign says "JEROME - One mile high with a 50 mile view".

Being a certified GHOST TOWN be sure to check your back seat when you leave after dark. Who knows what might hitching a ride with you...

X 4. Jerome is just too tight spaced, with hairpin curves.

But a very, VERY neat town. Take your truck. Leave the camper elsewhere.
  • There is a length limit on that section of highway. Not sure whether it is 40 or 45', but I have seen the Jerome police with trucks pulling trailers pulled over and making them turn around and go back to Clarksdale/Cottonwood.

X2 on going the other way... Pick up I17 SOUTH and then take the 278 EXIT at 169 to Prescott...

No big hills or loop backs this way...

Be sure to watch for the 278 EXIT - Not a very large Interstate intersection with NO business buildings around it... Only see what looks like one farm/ranch house on google maps haha...

If you miss it the next turn around is 10 miles south at Exit 268. I don't think I would take this exit road to get back to 169... Looks more like a JEEP trail road from google maps - turn around and go back up to exit 278...

  • I'd skip the 89A. Jerome's streets are way too tight and has a nasty hairpin turn. Google map the route.
