Arizona I-10 closure March 22 near Tucson

Arizona transportation officials are giving advance notice of a planned overnight closure of a 21-mile stretch of Interstate 10's westbound lanes in southeastern Arizona later this month.

From the Dothan, AL newspaperLink to the newspaper article

The Department of Transportation says closure of westbound I-10 between State Route 83 east of Tucson and State Route 90 west of Benson will result in a 67-mile detour for Tucson-bound travelers.

The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. March 22 to 5 a.m. March 23 for replacement of a bridge at Davidson Canyon.

ADOT says travelers should expect up to two hours of additional travel time and should consider avoiding that stretch of I-10 during that time.

The planned work includes lifting large concrete girders off truck beds and then installing them.

Another overnight closure for is planned in April.
  • Thanks for sharing. They have been upgrading this section of highway for quite some time, and when they're all done, there will be some great improvements to some of the bridges in the area.
  • Even though there will be a detour, it goes through awesome countryside so enjoy the added trip!
