Aspen to Alamosa

Hi all, looking for advice to get from Aspen, CO down to Alamosa, CO while avoiding Independence Pass. Wondering if we should head back to I-70 and down the 24 or out through Carbondale on the 133 and over on the 50 through Gunnison/Salida?

Pulling a 30ft TT with a ram 2500 6.4l.

Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks.
  • While at Alamosa be sure to ride the Cumbres and Toltec steam train. Great ride and beautiful scenery.

Been on all three - No wrong choices - as IMHO the drive of all (Three) is great, so toss a coin, and go out one way and back the other.

    Best of Luck,
  • I think I'd go back out to I-70 then pick up US 24 near Vail and US 285 from south of Buena Vista. I'm sure there are other points of view, but this is mine.
