Babb, Montana Border Delay

Today we traveled from Calgary South on Rte. 2. When we got to the Babb border crossing at 1 PM everything stopped. It was backed up for a mile with no movement at all for about one hour. It is a Canadian long weekend (Heritage Day Mon.) so some delay was to be expected. By the time we were processed it was exactly 4PM, a 3 hr. delay!
When we got to our destination in the St. Mary KOA the hostess said she heard there was a terrorist threat.
We even had to give up our place in line when a Canadian officer said they had refused an American entry into their country so we obliged.
Not a good day especially with all this rain drenching us during hook up. This weekend will be spent touring Glacier and hopefully the Road to the Sun under sunny skies.

The backup was the longest that I have ever seen!

It's expected, all the borders are on a higher security due to a potential terrorist threat that's been on the news.

  • Hope you have a good time at Glacier. I'm only a little over two hours away - and have never been to the Saint Mary KOA. Let me know how it is.. I might make a run up there soon.
  • There's lots of chatter about a potential terrorist threat this weekend. Multiple US embassy and consulate buildings are going to be closed for the weekend, primarily in the Middle East.
