Ban Albertans from BC campgrounds?

Here we were, twenty miles from Alberta, and none of them had ever heard of it! Ironically, the Calgary Flames were playing hockey on one of the many TVs in the bar.

The last time we were in Alberta, we stayed at the Big Horn Dam, west of Rocky Mountain House. We had a great place to camp with my two older kids and a friend. We dry camped for 3 weeks. There was a nice fire pit and room for 3 TTs and my 5th. We kept it clean and left no garbage. My son in law went back about a month later to the same spot because it was so nice. He found the fire pit had been destroyed, tin foil had been ripped up and spread all over and garbage was left. This place is owned by Alberta Hydro. I can't remember the proper name. They don't charge for people to use their land but if people continue to do this, they'll ruin it for the people that enjoy the place and clean up after themselves by charging a fee to stay there. This is not to say this is only common to Albertans because it happens all over. We usually dry camp in northern Michigan, in a state forest and you can not believe the garbage we find there. People up there use it as a dumping ground for junk, fridges, stoves, etc. It's a bloody shame.

I wouldn't head to a provincial park on a long weekend for love nor money haha.

Alberta's ban was for the National Parks, Banff, Jasper etc., not all.

actually several provinces have alcohol bans in effect at provincial parks over various weekends. It's not always enforced but the regulation is on the books if it is needed.

This was a good spoof, but i think it's rooted in a bit of reality. Didn't the Alberta Government ban all alcohol from campgrounds on long weekends in the last few years? That caused a lot of the yahoos to migrate over the hills & carry on in B,C. I think the BC Parks are relatively tame, but the problem can be found at the BC Forestry sites. After a weekend of partying they tend to leave a mess behind that is trying to mimic woodstock! Nothing new here. And, yes, it isn't just "those Albertans", Our own local yahoos get into a weird type of competition. Just look at the annual cleanups around the lower mainland and on the Island! Big question of the day...'How does one go about teaching respect for the environment to these people?'

That's it! If I can't go to NASCAR races in Stanley Park and leave my trash wherever I want to, I'm never going back to Canada. And I'm sure not paying for them griz bears I saw, especially those three I shot with my .50 caliber Magnum handgun. Them Canadians act like they own the country!

Yup, you let the cat out of the bag... One of their spoofs I liked was the supposed senior official from Parks Canada that said they wanted to start charging visitors to national parks a fee if they happened to see wild animals like a bear, elk, etc. even if they didn't intend to see one and all visitors were to make a report if they actually saw an animal.

In truth though, trashing of provincial parks has been an ongoing issue for many years.

Funny thing is many people fall for the "This and that"stories believing it's true and even call in..
All their stuff is so redicilous I can't believe anyone wouldn't realize it's made up..
Loved the one about proposal making NASCAR race track around Stanley park in Vancouver lol

Back in the sixties there was a movement to have a race (not NASCAR) in Stanley Park. Didn't go far.
