We are planning a trip to the Canadian Rockies this summer. How many nights do we need to book in Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper to comfortably see the highlights of the Rockies? I'm thinking 3 nights in each area would give us 2 full days to explore. Would that be sufficient? We are travelling in a 32ft travel trailer, so I'm trying to book Canada Parks with electric. Any tips for what else to see in Alberta would be appreciated. We're driving from Ontario.

Every one is different, but that would be plenty of time for us. Be sure to take a slow drive on 1A between Banff and Lake Louise and you just might see these grazing beside the road!

I assume you know about the border closure no sign of it opening so far. And check for campground closings, I know some major ones were closed up there. Otherwise 3 days at each should be fine.

For us, Banff is the least interesting of the locations you list. Jasper is the most!The campgrounds there are heavily used, and show a lot of wear and tear, but that's just what it is.Wapiti CG in Jasper is okay.Look at the CGs in Mt Robson Provincial Park, too.

That's about right. When in Banff, we took the Banff gondola and toured town. We stayed at Two Jack Main. We also drove to a small ghost town past Two Jack Lake. Happened to be scuba divers at the lake. Interesting. In Lake Louise we stayed at the Lake Louise CG by the railroad tracks. Not bad. We like trains so it was ok. We drove out to Lake Louise, the lake, and hiked around it. Beautiful. On the way up to Jasper we stopped at the Ice fields and took the tour onto Athabasca Glacier, viewed the falls, and ate at the visitor center there. Very nice. We also took a tram in Lake Louise and ate at the tram center. We stayed at Whistlers CG in a dry spot because there was a huge line waiting for the hookups and we really enjoyed the spaciousness of the dry sites. Quite a few elk right in Whistler CG. When in Jasper we drove to Jasper Lake for the scenery and a picnic. After leaving there we drove up by Mt. Robson, toured Wells Gray Provincial Park and past Terry Fox Provincial Park and down around Revelstoke, touring the RR museum and a tour up on Mt. Revelstoke.

In general, I would say that the Canadian Rockies are the most spectacular area I have ever seen in my life, and I have done a lot of traveling. I would recommend spending as much time in that area as you can, if you hike. If you don't hike, a week or ten days might be enough.

Not sure if anyone has tried to book today, but I'm down to ~32,000 people in front of me from ~47,000 when I started to wait.

I actually scored a site!

I was number 77 this morning when the site went live....I couldn't believe my eyes. We got a site at Lake Louse Hard Sided camping as well as Banff Trailer Court, full hookups.

Last week Friday I was able to score a site at Wabbasso near Jasper, so we're good to go.

I like Wabasso, A little further out and quiet. Have not been there for a long time. Sites were smaller and I believe they still are.

so much for staying to your local area for travel recomendations. I was there this morning and I was 57000 when it went live. last week jasper sold out in under and hour, the week befor Mt revelstoke sold out in under 20 min.
