Wineries from Oliver to Vernon. Lots of wineries if you like them (I love them). Spent a week both of the last 2 years camping in Oliver and visiting wineries.
Can't think of anything cool between Revelstoke and Banff.
With a 9-year old, you may not be doing winery tours, but don't miss Quail's Gate Winery in West Kelowna. It's not a tour or tasting that's the attraction, but the food and view. We had the best meal of our entire 3-month trip to Alaska at that winery. And the view from the dining room was unbelievable--hillside vineyards, roses blooming, the blue lake below in the valley, and even a summer shower that came right up the lake in slow motion. Magical!
Grab a "Dogs of the wineries" calendar and th 9 yr old can spend the time finding the dogs. :) A lot of the wineries have great views and restaurants. But Quails Gate in West kelowna, Summerhill just south of Kelowna and Gray Monk in Windfield (North of Kelowna) are 3 of the nicest.
If you want to try booking provincial campsites, got to https://secure.camis.com/Discovercamping/ for the reservation system. But most will be booked solid by now.
