From Grand Canyon, take the I-40, and least brutal will be to take I-15 towards SoCal. It's steep but downhill. Then go I-5 to the Bay Area. The steep grades is in Grapevine but again it's downhill.
I'd take 40 and 58 into Bakersfield with no need to detour south. Techachapi Pass is very douable.
Yup, the 58 is a doable route if there is no business going down to SoCal. And it will by-pass both the the steep. downhill Cajon Pass on I-15 and Grapevine on I-5.
