Best East Coast Beaches

I am planning on a week to 10 day trip in the next month or so leaving from PA. What are the best RV friendly beach towns to visit on the east coast. I was thinking about possibly hitting Nashville or New Orleans, but I love to hear from other RVers on great places to travel to.
  • Sadly in NC. While we have GREAT Beaches. There are only a couple of ocean front CGs between The OBX, and Myrtle Beach. One on topsail Island. Which is a GREAT place to go. It is Surf City Family CG. Very small, very nice, on the beach.

And as mentioned. One at the pier on Holden Beach. Both places have great beaches, and are pretty quiet areas.

The OBX have some CGs. But we have never stayed in any of them.
  • We thoughourly enjoyed our Nov. 17 month at frisco woods campground, Frisco, NC
Its on Pamlico Sound side of the OBX. Great water access for small boats like our portabote , kiters , sailboarders. The beach is only a short drive away via nps ramps over the dunes. Driving on Natl Seashore beaches requires a special NPS pass.

Do heed the info about deflating your tires to drive in the sand.
  • Simply Search here in RV.net for lots of responses. There are lots of options depending on what your looking for.

    Happy Trails
  • In the last three years we headed south to try the beaches. Went to Myrtle Beach once at one of the mega campgrounds. It was just way too crowded. The last two years we went out to Camp Hatteras in the Outer Banks. LOVED it!
  • Not sure about what you mean by "RV friendly," but one of the best and busiest RV beach destinations is Myrtle Beach. It is not RV friendly in the sense of driving your RV around (traffic gets dense and parking is rare) but is a place where you come in, park your RV for the duration, and rent something (golf carts commonly) for getting around.

Nashville is several hundred miles from any coast, and New Orleans is not particularly RV friendly, although there are many good locations on the Gulf Coast, from Biloxi, Mississippi to Carabelle, Florida with the Destin area being a top beach destination.
