- Turn right to Fishing Bridge
Turn left to West Yellowstone. - bukhrnExplorer IIITo go from Colter Bay to FB, there is absolutely no reason to go near W. Yellowstone. As others have said, go north thru the south entrance turn right at Rt 20 to FB. Easy Peasy
- TexasShadowExplorer IIgo through Yellowstone Park to get to West Yellowstone from Colter Bay.
If you are staying at Fishing Bridge rv park...that is INSIDE Yellowstone Park, be sure it is open...and you will need to get reservations as far in advance as you can.
From Fishing Bridge, go west to West Yellowstone.
Do not take highway 22 to Idaho. - pauljExplorer IIThe only real alternative to going north through the parks, is to exit south past Jackson, go into Idaho, and up 20 to W Yellowstone, and then in. That's much longer. Don't take Teton Pass into Idaho.
I believe the park web site(s) should describe the different roads. - TenOCNomad

2X FB is in the middle of YS. However, if you have already seen/driven the "figure 8" loops of YS and want to go to WYS without the traffic go the scenic 22/33 south of Jackson - BarabooBobExplorer IIIFishing Bridge RV Park is not in West Yellowstone. - agesilausExplorer IIIThere aren't that many ways to get to a spot in YNP the road net is rather sparse and parts are almost at 9000 ft so you will hit some grades
I have to wonder about how folks can micro-plan a trip 18 months away - burkhall1ExplorerThanks everyone! An early start to my 2022 plan and hoping that Fishing Bridge is open by then! I had a bad experience this summer with a very steep grade and appreciate your guidance! I say a reference to the mountain directories in another thread and that looks to be a great resource!
- agesilausExplorer IIIIs Fishing Bridge open this year? I thought someone said they were closed until 2022
Yup closed for 2021: Closed 2021
